About Bebras
Bebras Task card game originated from an award-winning international initiative, dedicated to teaching computational thinking and Informatics to children aged 7 years and above.
The History
As we are becoming more reliant on technologies, computational skills are becoming essential for everyone. Yet, perhaps due to the seemingly complex nature of the subject or the lack of engaging educational material, students are often hesitant to venture into the field of Information Science.
In 2004, a group of leading computer scientists and academics got together to tackle the issue and launched the first of its kind Bebras International Challenge on Informatics and Computational Thinking as a way to attract children to the field of computer science and spark their love for technology.
The Bebras initiative later won the Informatics Europe 2015 Best Practices in Education Award. To this day, over 1.5 million children worldwide have participated in Bebras competitions.
To take the initiative beyond contests, we decided to offer Bebras Task cards as an educational tool to practice computational thinking skills at school or from the comfort of one’s home.
The Bebras Task Cards
With Bebras Task cards, kids enjoy a fun and competitive way to learn the principles of Informatics and the critical cornerstones of computational thinking. The Bebras learning game comes in three age categories and helps students improve their logical reasoning, abstraction, creativity, and pattern recognition skills. Schoolchildren compete in teams to learn how to apply the computational thinking techniques correctly and perfect their problem-solving skills.
Bebras, or “a beaver” in English, is a persistent and hard-working animal. The Bebras task cards are the ultimate challenge for students to become expert computational thinkers by developing their tenancy and critical thinking skills through complex but enjoyable tasks.
